End of the Year

Students,
The school year is winding down and over the next few weeks we are finishing up our self-portraits (grades 1-5) and butterfly projects (kindergarten).  What a fantastic year it has been here at Lone Star! I have enjoyed watching each of you think about, talk about and create amazing artwork!  As you all know, I will be having a baby girl early this summer (or possibly before school is out this year)!  I will be taking the first few weeks of next school year off to spend time with the newest member of my family!  Ms. Penney (whom most of you know and love) will be my substitute.  She is so excited to do art with you and will be a fabulous art teacher while I'm gone!!  All the best to each of you!!

Art Show Thank You

A huge Thank You goes out to all students, families, teachers and staff at Lone Star Elementary for their hardwork and support for this year's Art Show.  The turn-out was incredible and everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening!  I would like to specifically thank those teachers and parents who volunteered their time and energy to make the show special.  Another thank you to Mrs. Aiuppy and the chorus and instrument club members that put on a fantastic performance during the show!  Thank you to PTA as well for donating the refreshements and drinks - loved those cookies!! All of you are awesome!! I am so proud to be a part of this LSE community!

The new year is well under way and we have begun our projects that will be featured in this year's Art Show!  The Art Show this year will take place on Wednesday, March 7th from 5:30-7:30 in the Cafeteria.  Please plan on attending this FREE event!!!  The Chorus will also perform during the show!  Here's what we've been working on:
Kindergarten - Color Wheels and ROYGBIV
1st Grade - Color Wheel, Primary and Secondary Colors
2nd Grade - Vincent Van Gogh and Silouhettes
3rd Grade - Louis Tiffany, Glasswork and Tiffany Lamps
4th Grade - Pablo Picasso, Cubism and Self-Portraiture
5th Grade - Renee Magritte and Surrealism

ART SHOW 2012 - MARCH 7th

Falling into November....

November is here and we are moving on to new projects!!  Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades are discussing Relief sculpture and creating awesome art.  Students in 1st and 2nd grades are discussing Organic Shapes and using their knowledge to create fantastic fall art.  Kindergarten students are working on creating Visual Texture!  It's been a great fall!!

It Feels Like Fall

Florida Fall weather is here! Cool mornings and warm days! The LSE Fall Festival is this month too!  Don't miss it - October 27th.  In art this month we are finishing up our vine art and line collage pictures.  Kindergarten students are taking home their line and shape collages.  Other grades have been painting and using oil pastels to complete their vine pictures - examples of these will be hung around the school soon!
