2010!

2010 is going to be a great year for Art here at Lone Star! Mark your calendars for the APRIL 15th - ART FAIR. All students will have framed work on display. All students, their families, friends and teachers are invited to take part in the gallery experience. Please plan to attend! Upcoming Art Projects Kindergarten: Students will be studying The Boating Party by Mary Cassatt and other works of art concerning family groups. They will create artwork depicting their own families. 1st Grade: Students will be studying the artwork of Joan Miro and discussing organic shapes. They will design and paint original compositions based on organic shapes. 2nd Grade: Students will study the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh, focusing on his work, Sunflowers. They will create their own versions of the still-life and learn about the art movement Expressionism. 3rd Grade: Students will create watercolor seascape paintings based on knowledge of the artist, Winslow Homer, and the Japanese art of origami. 4th/5th Grades: Students will create self-portraits based on the style of Pop Art and learn about the artist Roy Lichtenstein.
